World Shibori Network is a grassroots organization dedicated to the preservation of Japanese shibori and similar traditional techniques across the globe. WSN seeks to unite members from the textile community – practitioners, scholars and businesspeople – for a productive exchange of information and inspiration. The organization aims to preserve traditional prac- tices while also promoting new creative developments and contemporary adaptations.

I redesigned the WSN logo to reflect the history and ethos of the organization. Drawing from traditions of wood-block printing, the logo speaks to the hand-made qualities of shibori tra- dition. Shibori meaning to wring, squeeze or press, is represented in the S form.
